Going Home
All good things must come to an end. But we will return!
The alarm went off, and we finished packing. Checked out and waited for our taxi at 3:00 am. Our driver told us about his trip to Florida and the NASA visitors center. Scrolled through pictures on his phone as he was driving. Luckily there were no cars on the road. We entered the airport. A girl started talking to us, so we moved. The desk for our departure does not open until 4:30 am. Would have been nice to know that ahead of time.
The desk opened about 4:15 am so we went over and checked in. Deb and Joe showed up. We went upstairs to the departure area. The girl that tried talking to us before was upstairs charging her phone. She was talking to everyone. But she did not have a ticket as we never saw her get through security. She most likely was trying to talk her way through security by befriending someone in line. Gwyn lost her conditioner as it was too big. We sat down. Gwyn got coffees for everyone. Deb and Joe were given sandwiches and bananas from their hotel, but security took them. We got in line to board. You went downstairs to the tarmac to board the plane.
Our first flight was to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. A smooth flight. We saw canals as we approached the airport. Schiopol is a huge airport. We deplaned to the tarmac, and a bus shuttled us to the airport. We then walked a while to our next gate. As we sat waiting for our plane home, the gate attendants called us over. They inspected our bags and used a wand to swab our skin and bags. My guess for chemicals or radiation.
We boarded the plane, and off we went. The entertainment system had some issues, so it took a couple of reboots to get it going. The safety film was silent but subtitled. In the next aisle over a guy was watching movies and sucking on the back of his hand.
We landed at Logan Airport. Went through immigration and then waited for our TSA interview. That took about 1 ½ hours of waiting then the interview. But, the next time that we fly, we will be able to go through the much quicker lines. Next we looked for the Framingham Logan Express bus, as I had ordered tickets online. Amy picked us up at 4:30 pm from Logan Express, and took us home.
Gwyn had laundry to do, and more when our bag arrived the next day from DHL.
Thank you Scotland, England, and Ireland for a wonderful visit!
