A Day in Cork
One day is not enough time, but we make the best of it.
We got up around 7:00 am. Decided to have breakfast at the hotel. A very nice buffet with cereal, yogurt, pastries, and fruit. They had honey right off of the comb that was inclined to drip into a bowl. Yummy. We then walked into town, Gwyn looking for her Celtic Cross necklace. We found a jeweler, but not quite. We wondered around amongst the rain drops. I was feeling out of sorts, not really wanting to shop. Just a bit sad that our holiday was coming to an end. We walked into Michel Jewellers
and Gwyn found her cross. She upgraded the chain. It looks really nice in her. They said that the Long Valley Bar had some good coffee and pastries so we stopped. And they were right. We continued walking and went to the Irish Visitor center. Strolled over to the English Market
. It reminded me of Faneuil Hall. I bought some chocolates. We walked over to the St. Fin Barre's Cathedral. Really nice. Back to the hotel for a nap.
Gwyn’s knee was bothering her so we just hung out at the hotel. Joe and Deb got to their hotel, and we headed over to it. We walked to their room, but they were not there. They were waiting in the lobby. We stayed with them for a while and heard their story of meeting Joe's cousins. About 5:00 we started walking to find supper. We tried a couple of pubs, but Google led us to The Wooford.
The steak and ale supper was delicious. Carmen, our waitress, was Spanish. She was adorable. Our hotels were in opposite directions so we said goodnight. When we arrived at our room, the turn down service had stopped by, and left hot chocolate and our bed turned down. We packed, took a shower, and set the alarms for 2:15 am.
