Glasgow for a day

What does Glasgow have to offer.

Last morning at Badgers Wood. Packed everything before breakfast. After a yummy breakfast we brought the bags down and settled up with Andrew. Keith from Davies Taxi arrived. As I walked out the door Andrew asked if I was keeping a souvenir since the key was jingling in my pocket. A beautiful sunny day for a drive to Penrith train station.

Cows in the fieldsArrived at the station, and went under the subway to Track 2. Boarded the train. Our seats were available this time. Another beautiful ride through the countryside. Arrived in Glasgow, and took a taxi to The Alamo. View from our taxiThey let us keep our luggage while we ventured around since we were early. Check In time was 2:00. Joshua greeted us. He recommended a few places for lunch, and we headed to The 78. A vegan place, but the food was really good. After lunch we went into the Sainsbury's Local for some water. Deb and Joe got more snacks. Chandalier in the bathroomGwyn was a bit anxious that I was going to play disc golf. But she would be with Deb and Joe when she was doing laundry. We walked back to the Alamo, and a couple (Brenda and John) were coming up to see about checking in. Someone else said that we could check in, so we did. The room was beautiful. There was a chandelier in both the bedroom and the bathroom. I got my disc golf stuff ready, and we took the laundry with us. The laundromat was only a five minute walk. Gwyn got it started, and I ordered my Uber. Mohamad showed up in less than 10 minutes, and off I went.

It was about a 15 minute ride to Springburn Park. A nice large park. Hugh was at basket 18. Nic showed up about 15 minutes later. And off we went. First couple of baskets are around a pond, but I did not lose any discs. Springburn tee pad 6I did put one disc about 20 feet up into a tree, but I threw a disc up and they both fell out. I missed an easy birdie, and a couple of other putts, but it was fun. A bit overgrown but you are in a public park. The pathways are OB. Nic said to be careful of the dog crap that might be around. If we saw any, we should take a picture so Nic could take it to the council that looks after the park. I gave them the Maple Hill swag that I brought and they would use it for a future tournament. Nic produced records in the past, and was in LA in the early 2000's. In 2008 the market crashed and he came back to Scotland. Now he does promotions for companies and disc golf.

Stephen picked me up and brought me back to the Alamo. He was intrigued by disc golf. His son is paralyzed from the waist down, but does have outdoor wheels for his chair. I took a shower when I got back. Gwyn was much better. She was using the hair dryer to finish drying the jeans. We went outside to meet up with Deb and Joe. They were up the street, so we walked up. The steakhouse could not take us until 8:30, so we wandered around looking for a place. We finally found Sano Pizza. There were lots of bars that served cocktails. When we got back to the Alamo we sat on the steps to enjoy the evening. Brenda and John came back, and we chatted with them.

Gwyn took a bath, and then to bed.
