Our Trip Begins

All journeys start somewhere.

Joe and Deb Kelly were going to Ireland for their honeymoon last year, but because of Covid, they postponed the trip. They invited us along, and I wanted to see more of the United Kingdom. They were up to seeing what we wanted to, so I started planning the trip. In October 2021, I signed up for Edinburgh Tattoo information. I booked our tickets to Edinburgh in December 2021 since there are a lot of festivals in Edinburgh in August.

Friday, August 19

We decided to send one of our bags ahead to Edinburgh via sendmybag.com. They came to pick it up about noon. It is on the way to the Wilde Aparthotels By Staycity Grassmarket.

Wednesday, August 24

Our bag arrived at the Wilde Aparthotels this morning our time. Both DHL and the tracker that I had placed into the bag said it was there. We are both packed, ready to go. Gwyn’s Canon camera won’t unlock the memory card, so she won’t be taking that with her. We looked, and nobody locally has one available. Amy is planning on being home about 1:15 PM, so we should get to the airport in plenty of time. I have our boarding pass for Aer Lingus on my phone, so we should be good. I also have all of our other documents on Google Drive just in case.

Amy drivingAmy drove us to Logan. Traffic was fine. Checkin at the airport was quick. We got down to Gate C21 by 2:45.Our plan awaits

The plane departed at 5:45. Before it left, we chatted with a kid named Bennett who was relocating to Shannon.

8 seats across on the plane. Gwyn and I sat next to the window on the starboard sideWing at dusk. The guy in front of Gwyn put his seat back. The chicken and mashed potatoes were really good. A small salad with feta, Kalamati olives, and chopped tomatoes. And a chocolate mousse for dessert. I tried to sleep, but could not.
